Gryffindor

The truth is that the world of Harry Potter means so much more to me than this nightmarish hellhole, but now that I'm stuck here the only thing that makes sense is to try and help fix this place.

There's too many Dudleys, too many Malfoys. There's something wrong with this generation. Really. I'm not just saying that, there are people studying this and what they've found is frightening. Too many of us are rich, heartless bastards, or at least pretending to be rich, heartless bastards, because for some reason, that's the new ideal.

But some of us don't share that ideal. This is going to sound weird, but something that many of us have in common is that we were (are) Harry Potter fans. You should never underestimate the power of weird things. A lot of us were Harry Potter fans, and we identified with the losers and the heroes.

When you think about it... the losers were the heroes.

The losers are the heroes.

  1. J. K. Rowling has a brilliant brain, but she also has a good heart

What's the point of having a brilliant brain if your heart is shit?

I know that without Rowling's influence, I wouldn't be the person I am today. Maybe I wouldn't be radically different, but I'd be different. Friendship, loyalty, wisdom, compassion, civil disobedience, seeing bookishness as something that you shouldn't be ashamed of, seeing weirdness as something kind of heroic... All those things. Of course, there are other people who talk about these things, and they were (are) important too. Rowling's a Morrissey fan you know

  3. The world Rowling created is not so mind-blowing and magical because of the magic itself, but because of her ability to create so many psychologically beliavable, highly complex characters.

The whole thing is so fucking human.

For example, you learn to think that Gryffindors are good and Slytherins are bad. And then you find out that Harry's dad bullied Snape mercilessly and that Snape is one of the greatest heroes in the whole series.

And hundreds and hundreds of other examples. It's just incredible, HOW DID SHE DO THIS?
